Frequently Asked Questions
Where to get Catchline?
You can install it directly from the Google Web Store, or download the extension package and install it yourself.
What problem does Catchline try to solve?
When we chat with AI or browse forums, we often come across brilliant ideas, inspiring stories, or insights that could change our lives.
But we can't memorize everything, and manually saving the context is simply too much to manage in today's fast-paced world.
Catchline to the rescue — it lets us capture key moments on the spot, then get back to them anytime with just one click.
Catchline also creates outlines and extracts topics and keywords from the current sources. All these features serve one goal: help us recall the valuable information we've read as quickly as possible.

Is my data private?
We respect your privacy. Catchline sends page content to our servers for AI-powered summarization. The generated insights (outlines, topics, keywords) and page URLs are cached on our servers to improve performance and avoid redundant processing. However, we do not collect or store any personal information, login credentials, or private messages. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
How to install the extension I just downloaded?
- Unzip the downloaded file to a folder (e.g.,
/temp/catchline) on your computer. - Open Google Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions.
- Enable "Developer mode" (toggle in the top right corner).
- Click Load unpacked and select the folder where you unzipped the extension.
- The extension will appear in your browser and is ready to use.
Note:
- For unpaid (anonymous) users, do not change the unpacked folder path when reinstalling or updating the extension. Always keep the unpacked path the same; otherwise, your data will be lost. This is because the extension ID is tied to the folder path. If you move or rename the folder, the extension ID will change, and any data associated with the previous ID will be inaccessible.
- Paid users can reclaim their data using their email address after the extension ID changes. However, we highly recommend keeping the unpacked package in the same path across multiple installations to avoid inconvenience.
